These guys are fabulous! I would give 6 stars if I could. Our Hummer has had issues twice while vacationing in Tahoe. A catalytic converter went out last year and this year it was a water pump. No one likes unexpected car problems on vacation but these guys are fast and efficient. We did not have a ride back to our cabin after dropping it off and the gal who worked there said she would drive us back. That wasn't even the best part . While driving us back we mentioned the temp gauge started going up while we were heading to the Lake that morning . she literally pulled over, made a call, circled back to the shop and jumped out and gave us her keys and let us take it until our was ready! Saved our next couple days. Again their customer service is above par!

Our diesel truck broke down on I-80 on Friday afternoon. When we phoned to inquire about repair, they stated confidently that they could fix the problem. We were told when the truck was towed in that they would have someone look at the truck on Saturday to begin diagnosing the problem. We went to the shop on Monday morning hoping to see them working on the vehicle. We were told they were still diagnosing the problem and that they would call us in 2 hours. After 3 1/2 hours, we stopped by the shop again only to be told that they were waiting to hear back from a shop in Auburn that worked on Diesel engines for a second opinion. Second opinions are great, but our confidence level was now at a zero plus the fact that promised phone updates never happened. Long story short...we towed our vehicle to a shop in Sparks where they immediately recognized the problem and began the repair. I do not recommend this shop on the basis of their customer service.

The Employees at the Auto Doctor are Great, they go above and beyond. They are Courteous, kind and very helpful, and make sure you get the best care rather you are a local or from out of town. When my car broke down on Donner pass and I got towed there I never expected the excellent service I received. If you break down on Donner Pass or anywhere in the area or just need a good check up on your car I whole heartedly recommend the Auto Doctor. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF! Patricia Cummins

Thank you for the wonderful review, Patricia! We are so glad you enjoyed our service.

I don't often write reviews, but after my visit to the Auto Doctor, I thought I would share my experience. I came in on a busy Friday with a car that had to be towed in because it had dash warning lights on. There were 2 people at the counter, Gabby and Tim, and they said they probably wouldn't be able to look at it until Monday, as they were already really busy. A third person, Tom, came in from the shop area, heard the last part of the conversation, jumped in and said " we are busy, but we will figure it out". I was skeptical, as I am a woman and very wary of auto repair places in general, but especially when I really had no choice, as I was broken down. I was expecting the worst, either a huge repair bill while stranded in Truckee, or the car just sitting all day and nobody looking at it. I was wrong on both counts. Tom took my keys and took the car around back. He made sure I had the WiFi password and told me where I could get lunch if I was hungry. I sat for 15 minutes and he assured me that I would have an answer soon. After about 30 minutes, he came through the back door with paperwork and came over to the couch. I thought to myself, he we go, what bad news does he have for me? He explained the results of the inspection, my car was 5,000 miles past due for an oil change and the coolant level was low. My dash warning light was only a low coolant light, not a terminal issue, but I did not know that. I came in prepared to pay for a large repair. I came in expecting the worst in a small town repair shop, but I was pleasantly surprised. To the Auto Doctor crew, thank you for treating me fairly and for going out of your way to make me feel welcome. I do not live in your area, so I am writing this review to make sure that others know you are a special place to do business with; as you truly care about your customers. PS: They also had warm chocolate chip cookies.

For me, I was out of town and far from home. About a mile from my destination I blew a tire and limped to the hotel. After AAA put the spare on for me I called these guys and they not only gave me a great price but more than excellent service. The woman I spoke with on the phone, Gabby, was very sweet and helpful. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. It's a no brainer. Do yourself a favor and call them right now!

I told these guys I would write a good review if my Ford Explorer made it back down the hill - so here it is! Shout out to Winston! Woof! I was on my way to a graduation in Reno and car disaster struck! As a woman you are always leery of mechanics because there are those that tend to take advantage when they can. I can say with 100% confidence that this shop is trustworthy and won't take advantage, because they could have with me. I was in a bind and they knew it. My 99 FE overheated on I80 going East near Kingvale, right as I got into the usual road construction on the pass. Luckily I had to slow to a crawl or the engine would have burned up and not just the radiator. A nice guy pulled over and helped me limp it over to the Kingvale exit, and I was able to coast down to Truckee. I stopped at the first station (zero stars for that dude) He said he was too busy and said call around, but everyone is probably too busy to help you today. Rude. I "Yelped" because I don't know Truckee, and Auto Tire Doctor was 5 stars and I called, and he said he was very busy but bring it and he'd make time. They were SO incredibly nice. They took a look, gave me the bad news (radiator) and said they could fix it and I'd have it the next day (keep in mind it's about 4pm at this point) I called to see if I could get a rental car (no) and one of the service guys said he was driving some other stranded people to Reno and he had room. I declined because my son said he would come get me - but right on service dude for offering !!! They quoted me $600 and told me it would be ready at 3-4 the following afternoon. I showed up at 3 & they were putting it through it's paces and by 3:30 they put the keys back in my hand. Total cost $550. I drove it back to Reno and then drove it back to Silicon Valley yesterday, and no issues. Even in morning commute traffic in Sacto, Concord, and SV the car didn't get hot.

Came into Truckee from out of town for the Tough Mudder and my car broke down. Despite being completely booked that day, Tom/John/Gabby had my no-start-no-crank problem diagnosed and the starter replaced the same day so that I could make it to the race the next morning! For a repair shop to stay open late to get a job done in an emergency, this place deserves a look if you are considering bringing your car in for maintenance or repairs. I probably would have rated 5/5 stars if I had been there more than once.

The staff and especially the person that helped us at the front were so helpful. It was a rough day with our tire being out of alignment and coming from out of town, but coming to this shop really helped take the sting out of an un-fortunate situation! I appreciate the kindness, excellent customer service and pleasant demeanor of stars from me.

I brought my 2010 Subaru to The Auto Doctor after reading positive yelp reviews after loosing some coolant. They were eager to charge me $130 to diagnose the problem My car was looked at promptly but unfortunately I was charged $300 for a thermostat when all I needed was to have my radiator system properly "burped". Now my coolant system sounds like a rain stick when the car moves back-and-forth. If I lived in Truckee I would take the car back but now I'm out of pocket and feel worse off then when I took it in. They talk a good game at The counter, but the work done on my car was rushed and misdiagnosed.

Picked up a screw between TX and CA so I Googled tire shops and this one popped up. The manager was polite and the repair guy was super polite. Fixed my tire and inflated the other 3 tires to the proper psi. And then crawled under my truck and aired the spare (which was low) up. And then told me no charge. Wow, what a great experience. He also suggested the Full Belly Deli for lunch. Another home run. A small tip and some of my homemade jerky was his reward. Along with a big ol Texas thank you.
