My car broke down while visiting Lake Tahoe. Dave made sure to explain the issue in detail as well as offer multiple options in how I would like the car repaired based on cost. As soon as the part was received, the car was fixed within a day. I would definitely recommend this place, whether or not you’re a local.

The Auto & Tire Doctor

On Monday, Oct 2nd I went hiking near Truckee CA. In order to return to Truckee I had to use a dirt road for 2 miles which was full of potholes. I was doing a lot of stop and go actions to avoid dropping into those potholes. At a point when I applied my brakes my foot went all the way to the floor. I would then pump them and they would work again until the next time. Pretty scary. I was towed by AAA to the Auto Doctor in Truckee. Needless to say I was very concerned that the inspection be done correctly because I had to drive back to Sacramento and naturally didn't want to risk my life due to brake failure. At the Auto Doctor Dave Carter wrote up my work order and listened very carefully to my situation and concerns. The car was put up on the rack and Blake checked every part of the braking system. He couldn't find anything wrong. He then took the car on a test drive and the brakes worked just fine. He then put the car back on the rack and double checked all parts of the system again. He took it on a second test drive and had no problems. Finally I took it for a test drive (nervous Nellie!) and found nothing wrong. I went back in to see Dave and we discussed a few possible scenarios that would cause a temporary loss of brakes...overheating by too much stopping/going in a short period of time. I think he was right as the situation fit and there have been no issues since. Cars are so confusing these days with all the electronics. It's nice to find a shop with technicians and office personnel who really spend the time taking care of their customers. I left that shop feeling very sure that I would get home safely. I will recommend them anytime someone in that area needs help. Thank you Dave and Blake for your professionalism and courtesy. Karen
