The Auto & Tire Doctor
TOTAL NIGHTMARE!!! I brought my '69 Buick in for a simple tire installation and left with several problems. They told me it would take about 50 minutes to install my tires. After 1 hour i was kind of wondering why my car was not ready yet. One of the people there came out and told me that they put the tires on backwards!!! He said it would take another 50 minutes to flip them around. After another hour the car was still not ready. I started to wonder that maybe something else went wrong and thats why it was taking 3 times as long. A young man returned with my car and the first thing out of his mouth was " you have a bad noise at the back drivers side wheel and i think its a wheel bearing". I did not have any noise before i arrived there and had no idea what he was talking about. I drove away and heard a loud "clinking" noise at the back of the car. I never heard that before i went to THE AUTO DOCTOR. After getting on the freeway the noise got louder and louder and then it stopped! I felt as if something fell off the car which was making the noise. I pulled off the road and when i hit the brakes to slow down at the bottom of the off ramp, my front end was "shaking like a leaf" !!! I made it home and called the AUTO DOCTOR. They had me bring the car back to inspect it. After looking at the car the AUTO DOCTOR told me that i had brought the car in this way and that i had "warped brake drums". the car was fine before i went to the AUTO DOCTOR. The shop manager shouted to me that i had brought the car in tis way with warped brake drums and he turned away from me and basically "blew me off" !!! Left with a disabled car, i needed to fix the problem so i could drive it. Buick does not make original aluminum drums anymore for the car and i had to find a Buick "old part" dealer. I found a place in Chicago that had the original aluminum brake drum. $600 for the drums,$300 for the shipping because they are very heavy. I received the parts and had a licensed mechanic put them on the car. The car still vibrated! The mechanic said we can try other repairs to try to find the problem. I had the front wheel bearings changed and the car still vibrated. I then had the bushings changed, and the car still vibrated.I even had the tires sent back in case they were defective. The new tires i received were put on and the car still vibrated. Took the car to a third licensed mechanic and he said the only thing left would be rims {wheels}. This is what the AUTO DOCTOR had actually touched and took off the car. I ordered new rims {wheels} and had them installed by a licensed tire shop. Wouldn't you know, the vibrating finally stopped!!! After all of the time and over $3,000 worth of unnessary repairs i called the AUTO DOCTOR for some companstion for the time and expense. They had the same employee call me back who "blew me off" in the first place. He could not find out what was wrong when i brought the car back to him and accused me of bringing in a damaged car. I assure you that my car did not vibrate or make a loud noise in the back before i brought my car to the AUTO DOCTOR. The AUTO DOCTOR has refused to compensate me on any of my expenses or lost time! The AUTO DOCTOR put me through a lot of trouble and expense. All i asked for was compensation for the rims{wheels} and not any of the other repairs or personal time. They refuse to pay anything at all!!! The same employee who "blew me off" the first time basically still said "that i brought the car in that way"! Not true!!!
